Everest Gokyo Cho La pass Trek Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival Kathmandu
Namaste! We welcome you to the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. Kathmandu is an incredible city with Temples and Heritage sites in almost every nook and corner. Given the time, you can stroll around Thamel and Kathmandu Durbar Square before we meet for the paper works and documentation for the preparation of our trek starting the next day. Upon Arrival at the TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport), Kathmandu, our representative will receive you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu.Day 2 Flight to Lukla and Trek Phakding
Catch an early morning flight to Lukla, the Everest trek's starting point. We land at the Lukla airport after a 30-minute flight with a remarkably scenic backdrop of Nepal's central mountainous areas. Now we'll meet up with the majority of our trekking crew in Lukla and continue our day's hike towards Phakding. We arrive at Phakding, just that little settlement on the shores of the majestic Dudh Koshi River, after a four journey on a gently downhill trail.
Day 3 Trek to Namche Bazaar
This will be a spectacular day of your journey, opening with a walk along the banks of the Dudhkoshi River, which you will cross five times through suspension bridges. The fifth will be even more fascinating because it is the world's 123rd highest bridge. We'll enter Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO-listed natural world heritage site, after around 3 hours of trekking. Therefrom, it's a strenuous walk to Namche, the entrance to Everest Base Camp. In Namche, spend the night in a guesthouse.
Day 4 Acclimatization and Day Hike around Namche Bazaar
We stay in Namche for a day because acclimating to the surroundings is very important prior to actually rising to higher elevations. We'll go to the museum and thereafter take a quick stroll to the Everest View Hotel, where we'll be treated to breathtaking views of the mountains. We retrace our steps back to Namche after spending some time in this wonderful spot.
Day 5 Trek to Tengboche
We will walk all the way to Tengboche after a rest day in Namche, which would take around 5 hours. We will visit the Khumbu region's largest monastery, Tengboche, once we get to Tengboche village. We could also get a close look at Mt.Amadabalam (6853m), one of the region's most gorgeous peaks. In Tengboche, spend the night at the lodge.
Day 6 Trek to Dingboche
Today we will begin our walk to Deboche via the rhododendron trees. A suspension bridge will also allow us to cross the boisterous Imja River. We'll also take a trip into Pangboche village, the region's largest Sherpa-dominated settlement, where we'll be able to see Pangboche monastery, one of the region's oldest. Before reaching Dingboche, the surroundings will dry up and become more deserted, so we'll have a rather difficult afternoon trek. Breakfast, lunch, and supper are included in your stay at the guesthouse.
Day 7 Acclimatization and Day Hike around Dingboche
On this day, you will hike straight up to Nagarjuna Hill which is at 5100 m above sea level offers glorious mountains along with the beautiful Dingboche villages itself. After exploration of the hill, you will hike back to Dingboche and it's upon your choice either visit some more places or take a rest at your lodge.
Day 8 Trek to Lobuche
Trek slightly begins with a gentle walk early in the morning after having a light breakfast. After walking for almost 3 hours you will reach Thukla where you will take your lunch then begin your journey. On the way, you can see the stone which is the memory of several sherpas who lost their life while climbing mountains.
Day 9 Trek to Gorak Shep and Visit Everest Base Camp
As we depart Lobuche today, we would have a meaningful and exciting, though challenging day. To reach Everest Base Camp, which itself is located at an elevation of 5364 meters, we will march through the Khumbu Glacier. This is the feet of Mt. Everest, the world's highest mountain, where you'll be honored with breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Tawache, Everest itself, and many other peaks. The panorama of the Khumbu Ice Fall from this vantage point is breathtaking. For the night, we'll return to Gorekshep.
Day 10 Trek to Dzongla
Next, observing the magnificent panoramas of the Himalayas along with a 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains, you will walk to Dzongla which comprises hotels only. Commonly, you can address this place as a tourist hub because it is hard to find houses and inhabitants there.
Day 11 Trek to Thangna via Cho La Pass
This day is one of the tough days among any day because trekking trails are slightly slippery due to ice and have to climb high until we reach Cho La Pass. Though it is a tough day, you can observe the magnificent view of mountains beside us: Mt. Cholatse and Mt. Tabuchi as a reward. The magnificent valley and villages on the way will surely amaze you.
Day 12 Trek to Gokyo
Today, we will hike for about 3 hours from Thangna to the sacred Gokyo Lake, which is at a height of 4790 meters. Prior to actually reaching Gokyo, you will pass through a succession of Gokyo lakes in a clockwise direction: Longpongo, Toboche Tsho, and Dudh Pokhari.
Day 13 Trek to Gokyo Ri and back to Dole
On this day, we will trek to Gokyo RI, which is perched at 5483 meters above sea level and dominates the community on the northern shore of Gokyo Lake. We can see wonderful vistas of the world's tallest mountains, including Everest, Makalu, and Lhotse, from the top of Gokyo RI. The magnificent vistas of the supper Gokyo valley and the gigantic Ngozumpa Glacier would also attract us.
Day 14 Trek back to Namche
Though this is not the last day of your trek, you can consider it as the last day because you’ve almost completed your trek. Furthermore, It’s time to return to Kathmandu from Lukla. On the day, you will walk through the zigzag suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River which lasts for almost 2 hours.
Day 15 Trek to Lukla
After walking for 7/8 hours you will return to Lukla via Phakding, walking through rhododendron forests, several Sherpa settlements, and mountain panoramas.
Day 16 Flight to Kathmandu
As this is the last day of your trek, catch a plane and retrace back to Kathmandu after 25 minutes mountain flight.
