About Mountain Bike - Downhill Thrill
We are dropped off by bus in Nagarkot, a famous hilltop where we have breakfast and at the same time enjoy a beautiful panorama on the snowy peaks of the Himalayas. Then we start a spectacular and long descent on a jeep track. We pass some picturesque villages and end our tour in Bhaktapur. Here we have lunch and then we are picked up again by bus or we cycle back to Kathmandu.
Nagarkot:
Nagarkot is situated at an altitude of 2000m and offers clear views of the surrounding white Himalayan peaks in clear weather. 8 of the 10 highest Himalayan peaks in Nepal can be seen, from the Annapurnas to Mount Everest.
After breakfast in Nagarkot we start with an exciting descent . After the descent we drive through hilly areas along beautiful rice terraces and through small villages in an easterly direction to the old royal city of Bhaktapur. The atmosphere is medieval and on the many squares you can see beautiful temples in pagoda style. There is also a lively and colorful street life.
Bhaktapur:
Bhaktapur is the most original of the three royal cities in the Kathmandu valley. The movie Little Buddha was shot here. Bhaktapur is known for its potter's square, where thousands of pots are drying. Another attraction is the Sun Dhoka, the golden gate. The Nyatapola Temple is the largest temple in Bhaktapur. The more than 30 meter high pagoda roof has 5 floors and stands high above all other buildings in the city. Two by two lined up images of guards flank the stairs to the temple.
Beautiful souvenirs are for sale at the silversmiths and jewelers in the city. Immediately outside the city begins Nepalese country life that seems to have not changed for centuries.
