About Upper Mustang Trek
Upper mustang trek is one of the most unique and adventurous treks. The geography as well as the Tibetan lifestyle and culture is similar to that of Tibet and Ladak in India. It is categorized as one of the restricted treks in Nepal requiring special permit. Minimum of 2 people is required to get the special permit to trek the Upper Mustang.
The geography of the Mustang region is dry throughout the year and has little to no vegetation. And it barely rains in the region but it snows heavily during the winter months. Even the people inhabitants of the region tend to move to the city or lower belt to escape the cold winter in the forbidden land.
Upper mustang has always been isolated from the rest of the world. Only in the recent years there has been easier access to the region after the expansion of the road networks all the way to Jomsom from Beni. The road is not an easy one but its adventure in itself.
